The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day animal health management, ensure operational efficiency, supervise staff, and maintain high standards in animal welfare and productivity across all farm units.
Key Responsibilities
- Animal Health & Welfare
- Provide preventive and curative veterinary care for all livestock and poultry
- Develop and implement vaccination schedules and health protocols
- Diagnose, treat, and monitor animal health conditions
- Ensure biosecurity measures are in place and strictly adhered to
- Farm Management & Operations
- Oversee daily farm operations with a focus on performance, discipline, and process adherence
- Coordinate feed programs, breeding, and flock/herd performance monitoring
- Manage farm inventory: vaccines, medical supplies, equipment, and livestock movements
- Ensure cleanliness, housing, and environmental sustainability practices
- Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise farm personnel and support staff
- Train and mentor farm workers on animal care, safety, and best practices
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement corrective action plans
- Record keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records on animal health, treatments, mortality, production metrics, inventories, and staff activities
- Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports for executive review
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve productivity and reduce losses
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for animal health, welfare, and farm safety
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all units
- Monitor compliance with company policies and escalate non-conformities
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution
- Valid professional license to practice veterinary medicine in Nigeria
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in livestock/poultry veterinary practice, farm production management, or related field
- Strong understanding of livestock health, nutrition, reproductive management, and disease control
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Preferred Prior experience managing commercial poultry or livestock operations
- Knowledge of modern farm management systems
- Demonstrated ability to supervise large teams and maintain production KPIs
